Family-friendly parks and viewing points
Get ready to have fun with the family, spending time in contact with nature or seeing the city from above. Barcelona's parks and viewing points are a great choice!
Family-friendly parks
Barcelona's parks allow all the family to unwind and enjoy themselves. You can wander among leafy groves and shady areas, and sit in the sun in the city's green spaces which have fountains, ponds and children's play areas.
Some of them are particularly family friendly and have lots of surprises in store, such as the big cypress maze at the Parc del Laberint d'Horta, which is perfect for kids with an adventurous spirit; the huge whale at the Parc Central in Nou Barris, where reflecting pools and tall fountains with water jets are the centrepiece; the giant octopus in the Parc de la Pegaso with its slides and walkways for the kids to play on; the pond in the Parc de la Creueta del Coll that becomes a public swimming pool in summer; the giant mammoth and boating lake in the Parc de la Ciutadella; the miniature steam train that takes you through woodland in the Parc del Castell l'Oreneta; and the new Parc de les Glòries, which has a wide green esplanade, big slides and a fun kids' play area. And, one of the most spectacular and widely admired is Gaudí's Park Güell, with its dragon, fairytale houses and undulating benches.
Barcelona is also flanked by two vast green "lungs": the Parc de Collserola, a protected natural site covering an area of some 8,000 hectares, which is the perfect place for walking and hiking, and the Parc de Montjuïc, the hill which conceals a treasure trove of gardens, including the Jardí Botànic and the Jardí Botànic Històric, which is home to some of the city's tallest trees.
Wherever you are in the city, there's a park nearby where you'll be able to rest and connect to nature, and the kids can play and have a whale of a time.
Family viewing points
Some of Barcelona's viewing points also offer unique family experiences. For instance, the Mirador del Alcalde comprises a series of terraces set out on different levels overlooking the sea and Barcelona harbour. The famous Mirador de Colom contains Barcelona's first ever lift but today you'll only take 30 seconds (not 4 minutes!) to ride to the top. And inside the Glòries Tower you'll be able to enjoy spectacular views of Barcelona from above and enjoy a highly innovative artistic and sensory experience.
In contact with nature or seen from above, Barcelona's parks and viewing points will certainly turn your visit with the family into a big event.
