Mirador de Torre Baró

This viewing point is perfect if you want to enjoy lovely views of Barcelona and its surrounding area. Nestling at the top of the Torre Baró hill in the district of Nou Barris, it also marks the end of the neighbourhood of the same name.

The neighbourhood and hill were named Torre Baró after the two old towers of the same name, the first of them dating from the 16th century and the second from the 18th century. The building at the top, known as the Castell de Torre Baró, isn't really a castle as the name would suggest, but was built as a hotel in the early 1900s and never completed. The viewing point stands adjacent to this building, at the end of the road known as the Carretera de les Roquetes. The site was restored in 1989 and overlooks the districts of Nou Barris, Horta, Sant Andreu and Sant Martí below, and, in the distance, the Besós river and the foothills of the Collserola ridge and the nearby towns of Santa Coloma, Sant Adrià and Badalona. These are panoramic views of the working-class districts of Barcelona, the unknown side of the city, which reveal the growth of the city in the second half of the 20th century.

There are free guided tours of the viewing point in the tower so you can discover its history, how it was built and the natural surroundings. It also runs a programme of activities and workshops you can enjoy with all the family.
